Please find below the replay of the recording of the wonderful teleseminar with Carolyn Resnick, where she discussed why she is backing the anti-rollkur campaign and how she uses the ‘Uberstreichen Excercises’ she developed to train horses to grand prix level dressage without the need for pulled reins.
Apologies for those of you who could not listen in live via the webcast player. For some reason it decided not to work yesterday, the first time this has happened in a year. However, I hope the replay above is of some recompense if you also did not manage to call in by phone. There will hopefully be a transcription of the call coming soon too.
Carolyn Resnick:
“A teacher of mine once said to me that you should be able to ride with string for reins and if you can’t, then you’re no horseman.”
For those of you interested in learning more about Carolyn’s Uberstreichen Excercises, she has just begun a free class on them, which is happening over on her Horsemanship From The Ground Up blog.

Now that we know (with scientific proof) of the pain and damage that Rollkur inflicts to horses, it should clearly be banned! How can anyone who remotely likes horses can continue to use this practice knowingly is beyond me. I am for the banning the rollkur practice anywhere. Make it illegal.
Intimidation is a sign of a rider’s limitation.
I couldn’t listen to the seminar live over the phone, am now listening to the recording. Will there be a written transcription? It was very fustrating to have the recording break in about id # throughout the answering process. This is fasinating. Thank you very much. Laura
Can we get a transcription of this call. I listened to some of it and had to go to work. I would love to be able to read it. Thanks to whoever might be able to provide it.
I couldn’t listen to the seminar live over the phone, am now listening to the recording. I keep getting some voice on telling me to press this button and that and covering the words of Carolyn responding to a question. I see there is a possible transcript coming, can you confirm that and also let me know how I can be sure to get a copy?
thanks!

Carolyn, you spoke so eloquently and gave sound clear rational to the reasons and differences of different methods of training horses in dressage. It was fascinating and informative and your genuine professionalism shines through. Please, please Carolyn keep doing what u are doing. I believe too, the change can happen if we all stand up and make the right choice of joining/supporting the ‘humane competitive communities’ that are growing in number. Thank You Carolyn and Thank You Marc for your work.
Thank you, Carolyn, this session has brought new insights into your method and into classical dressage, and will hopefully help change a sport that inflicts pain and suffering on many horses.
Marc and Carolyn,
This call was a wonderful in depth discussion on the subject of rollkur, its use and humane training methods that can open doors to so much more…skill, trust and enjoyment of the horse/human connection. I would very much like to thank all involved in setting up this telecall for their sincere efforts to spread and share information on a more “just” path.
Very Sincerely,
Leanna
Thank you Carolyn, all from the sight of the horse interest. Your training course is great, the horses are doing very well.
Best regards
Monique from Holland
I got the message about the problem with the webcast. But when I phoned in with my cheap telephone card, it wasn’t so cheap after all. Instead of an hour to the USA being about $1.60, this call was going to chew up $10 in 3 minutes. And I dare say, Carolyn won’t only be talking for 3 minutes. Darn it, I’m going to have to wait til afterwards!
I do hope there is a recording for afterwards!
Ahh making use of this great technology stuff is a learning curve, isn’t it?
Great Job Carol….Very much enjoying the new book and DVD as well. Will email you soon….Regards, Franklin
SORRY!! THE WEBCAST PLAYER DOESN’T SEEM TO BE WORKING!!

Roolkur riders don’t even know what they are doing. They use horses as tools to see themselves as powerful. They are very insecure people who need to step on someone in order to feel empowered. You find these people in business too.
The only way to stop them, in my opinion, would be if all judges and all stewards at all national and international shows throw them out immediately and fine them and charge them with cruelty to animals. This would then have to be publicized in all the various horse magazines and/or newspapers.
is there any way to “capture” the audio of this phone call so it can be listened by those who are unable to join in, replayed, shared and saved? that would be wonderful…thank you
Confused, I admit I did not know what “rollkur” was until I googled it. Having done so I am confused as to why we even need Carolyn to address this. If one subscribes to the method of horsemanship that she teaches, and I do, this to me is a moot point. I simply cannot go from developing a relationship based on mutual respect to mounting up and removing all the horse’s ability to be a partner in our dance.
Wonderful, uberstreichen is not a new concept…..it has been in use for many, many years. It’s in all the classical writing. Again, unfortunate that people are no longer “students” of the art of horsemanship.
How do I become an expert witness against rollkur? I have personally retrained countless horse who have been discarded as being rogues, on their way to auction/slaughter after being ridden in this cruel manner? I have worked against this hideous trend for many years silently. I am finally thrilled to see so many people waking up to this perversion of correct riding.
